Code 87.43, A Notary Public is prohibited by law to act in the capacity of an attorney, give advice in preparing legal documents, issue identification cards, distribute confidential information or perform any notarial act unless the signer is present.

Fee Schedule

The State of Texas Government Code sets maximum fees for a Notary Public.

General Notary Service

  • First signature of each individual $6
  • Each additional signature of each individual $1
  • Administering an oath or affirmation $6
  • Taking the deposition of a witness, for each 100 words $.50
  • Swearing a witness to a deposition $6
  • Protesting a bill or note $4
  • Each additional notice of protest $1
  • Certified copy (copies not included, must be made by the notary $6
  • All notarial acts not provided for $6

Escrow & Real Estate Closing Charges

  • Single loan closing (15 miles of travel included) $150
  • Mileage fee per mile, after first 15 miles $1
  • Additional related (Piggy back loan) Loan Closing $35
  • Additional unrelated Loan Closing at same location $50
  • Printing electronic documents, up to 200 pages $25
  • Printing additional pages, per page $.25
  • Fax up to 15 pages $20
  • Travel & non-closing fee. This fee is due if notary travels to location & borrower refuses to sign $100
  • Cancellation fee applied with 2-hours or less notice $35

Travel

  • Travel plus mileage $25
  • Mileage, each mile $1
  • After hours 6pm to 9pm, 6am to 9am, and weekends $30
  • Late night or emergency 9pm to 6am

Location Charges

  • Hospitals & nursing homes, 30 minutes at location $50
  • Jails & detention centers, 1 hour at location $100
  • Excessive wait times per hour, more than 30 minutes at location $45
  • DFW Airport Terminal Fee $75

Additional Return Shipping Charges Once Complete

  • Overnight shipping within USA via common carrier (FedEx or UPS) $45
  • Expedited shipping Mexico or Canada $55
  • Expedited shipping Western Europe, Japan, S. Korea, Argentina, Australia, New Zealand $55
